Biography

Mostafa Tawfiq Gebril "The artist" was born in a town in Palestine called "Basheet" Al-Lid Center in 1946. Gebril has Lived in Gaza till 1966 with a family that likes painting. Where his older brother was a painter but later turned to the field of engineering. Both of Gebril's parents encouraged their son to draw. He first drew on paper, walls and wood using different tools such as pencils, watercolors, guash colors and wax. He used Indian Ink and oil colors at and early age marked by courage, will, and most of all-hope. He surprised his teachers with delightful sketches.

Within a few years -at the age of 13 years- his drawings were affected by social, cultural, and economic interactions. He has done a lot of purse portraits for famous people using oli colors and Indian Ink.
Moving on to secondary school is an important stage in any child’s life, Mostafa Gebril was encouraged by the egyptian artist Moheb Habib Rafael (His teacher in secondary school).
The teacher was an artist and the student was motivated and enthusiastic..

During the study in the first grade of secondary school an Art Exhibition has been set up with various works of the student Mostafa Gebril, his drawings caught the eye of his teachers and many visitors and admirers.

At the time, two women visited the exhibition school, and the student Mostafa Gebril was standing with a technical education teachers at the entrance to the exhibition, during the break, One of the women whispered to her friend "These drawings.. For who? This exhibition was his. Mostafa Gebril!

Since then, this was the first exhibition by Mostafa Gebril in the age of 16 years.

The artist, respectively, has ranked number one over all Arab students applying for Higher Education in Fine Arts Faculty in Cairo 1967.
He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Photography Department in 1972, he graduated summa cum laude and was also elected to work in the faculty. He worked in the faculty in a short period and then directed to technical education in Saudi Arabia.

Mostafa Gebril has participated in many art exhibitions and has won many leading awards in Saudi Arabia.

"You defied the camera" said by Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal, Commenting on one of his work.
The artist designed many logos, book covers and interior drawings for some of them.

The artist is currently preparing for his exhibition in Cairo, Egypt.
The artist is proud of all of his teachers who gave him honest praise and encouragement during his study, such as Ezz El-Din Hammoda, Hamed Nada, Lebanese artist, Hosni Al benani and the egyptian artist Mamdouh Ammar.

Tthe artist is currently living in Cairo, Egypt. and he is married to Mrs.Omaima Radwan, Fine Arts graduate and he has several children including Maha, who is a graduate of Fine Arts as well.
